In "The Blood-Red Rose of Death," life at the Catholic Church of the Holy Redeemer in Detroit is thrown into turmoil by a string of murders targeting priests and nuns. Each victim is discovered clutching a black rosary. Father Koesler, initially assisting the police in their investigation, soon becomes a central figure when the killer selects him as the next confessor. As tensions escalate, Father Koesler finds himself entangled in a web of mystery and danger that threatens not only his own life but also the faith and safety of the entire community.
